Bright Start Program
So you’re pregnant…congratulations! Pregnancy is an exciting time and there’s a lot to do and a lot to look forward to. But don’t forget that the single most important thing you can do for your baby right now is to take care of yourself. The best way to have a healthy baby is to learn how to have a healthy you. And PrimeWest Health wants to help with that!
Bright Start is a prenatal program for PrimeWest Health expectant mothers with the goal of providing support and education in order to help you take care of yourself and your baby throughout your pregnancy. This includes information on nutrition, Public Health nurse visits, and important tips to remember throughout pregnancy, such as the importance of regular checkups and wearing seat belts while pregnant. This may be especially helpful if this is your first baby or if you have a complicated pregnancy.
Through Bright Start, we encourage you to be prepared before your baby is born. This includes teaching about breastfeeding, car seat safety, well-child visits, and immunizations. Once your baby is born, PrimeWest Health has another program for you called Bright Futures. We’ve put together some resources that we think you will find helpful. Click on the headings to the left to learn more about Bright Futures, Public Health Nurse visits, nutrition, breast pumps, car seats, and more!
If you would like to take part in the Bright Start program or have any questions about your health care benefits during your pregnancy, please call Member Services at 1-866-431-0801 (TTY users call 1-800-627-3529 or 711. These calls are free.) and ask to talk to the Women & Children Care Coordinator.
This information is available in other formats and languages for Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) members. Learn more about how we assure access to care.
