For all medical, dental, and pharmacy services, PrimeWest Health focuses on ensuring that members get the most appropriate care. We do this, in part, by applying utilization management procedures based on current clinical guidelines and Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-based indications and dosing. As one example, we require providers to ensure medication reconciliation takes place upon discharge from the hospital to avoid duplication and possible adverse drug interactions. Another example is ensuring compliance with Minnesota’s Restricted Recipient Program, which allows members to have an overseeing primary care provider and one pharmacy to help streamline care, promote safety, and preserve limited health care resources.
