Immunizations for Adolescents (IMA-E)
Health care visits for members ages 9 – 13 are important because they provide a great opportunity to discuss the recommended immunizations to protect young people from some serious diseases. Some of these immunizations help to strengthen immunizations received as a child and others are specifically for the 9 – 13 age group.
This Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)1 measure follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) guidelines for immunizations. It looks at the percentage of adolescents who had one dose of meningococcal vaccine and one tetanus, diphtheria toxoids, acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) or one tetanus and diphtheria toxoids vaccine (Td) and two or three doses of the HPV vaccine by their 13th birthday.
Who was measured?
PrimeWest Health members who turned 13 years old during the measurement year who were continuously enrolled for 12 months prior to their 13th birthday and had no more than one 45-day gap in enrollment during this time were measured.
Please note that this measure was recently moved to a different form of HEDIS reporting called Electronic Clinical Data Systems (ECDS), and the graph below reflects limited data as a result of this change. The measure name includes “-E” after the abbreviation to indicate it’s an ECDS measure.
