Cervical Cancer Screening (CCS)

Cervical cancer screening promotes early detection and possible prevention of cervical cancer. This Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)1 measure looks at the following:

  • Women ages 21 – 64 who had cervical cytology performed within the last three years
  • Women ages 30 – 64 who had cervical high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing within the last five years
  • Women ages 30 – 64 who had cervical cytology/high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing within the last five years

Who was measured?
Women ages 21 – 64 as of December 31 of the measurement year who were continuously enrolled during the measurement year and the two years prior to the measurement year with no more than one 45-day gap in enrollment during each year of continuous enrollment were measured.
