Antidepressant Medication Management (AMM)
Monitoring antidepressant medication is an important part of managing side effects, dosage changes, brand changes, and adherence. This Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)1 measure examines the following two areas:
- Effective Acute Phase Treatment. The percentage of members who remained on an antidepressant medication for at least 84 days (12 weeks).
- Effective Continuation Phase Treatment. The percentage of members who remained on an antidepressant medication for at least 180 days (six months).
Please note: The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has retired this HEDIS measure for measurement year 2025.
Who was measured?
PrimeWest Health members age 18 and over with a diagnosis of major depression who were treated with antidepressant medication and who remained on antidepressant medication treatment for six months were measured.

Providers can help increase medication compliance by ensuring members adhere to their medications and by encouraging follow-up visits.
